Published: 29 February 2004 y., Sunday
The EurAsEC Interstate Council session attendees agreed the entrance into the WTO was number one direction in economic cooperation. Kazakhstani Prime Minister Daniyal Akhmetov and acting Russian Prime Minister Victor Khristenko declared the EurAsEC countries had to exchange information and coordinate their actions. Daniyal Akhmetov noted, “We approach the Unified Economic Area (UEA). It means common capital market, workforce, goods and services.” He stressed, “The steps towards the WTO is an obligate course each country strives for. The Prime Minister said the papers “of harmonization and views on entrance into the WTO agreed” had been signed. He stated Russia’s view was basic. Victor Khristenko declared the former Russian Government would answer their obligations. “They will adopt Europe’s integration experience when forming the UEA in the CIS,” he said. Kazakh-Russian joint venture will be established in Ekibastuz. Daniyal Akhmetov assured, “Kazakhstan will help develop hydro-generating capacities in Kyrgyzstan. This July Kazakhstan will start construction of a new northern-southern power line. It will help form the power bridge between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and Russia across our country.”
