Georgia's President to visit Lithuania

Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili comes to Lithuania for a working visit on October 31-November 1.

The visitor will be received by the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus in the Presidential Palace. Among the issues to be discussed in the meeting of the two heads of states will be the implementation of the agreement between the French President Nicolas Sarkozy and the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev reached in August concerning the withdrawal of Russian troops from Georgia, the cooperation between Georgia and the European Union, the EU's observer mission in Georgia, and the security situation in the region.

The meeting will be followed by a press conference of President Adamkus and President Saakashvili.

Later in the day, Georgia's President will host an official reception in Vilnius Town Hall.

On 1 November, the two presidents will honor the memory of those killed in the fight for Lithuania's freedom, in the Antakalnis cemetery.
 
During the visit, President Saakashvili will be accompanied by Georgia's Minister of Economy, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, members of parliament and journalists.
