The Iraqi Embassy in the country left off work. The committee on administration and restoration of Iraqi Internal Ministry’s activity explains the closure of the diplomatic representation in Minsk by the fact that Belarus doesn’t present any strategic interest for Iraq anymore.
The decision about Embassy’s liquidation was taken in the beginning of June. The Iraqi Ambassador left our country and returned home. Only some persons stayed in Minsk in order to sell their belongings. For the time being the property is practically sold.
According to the international experts, regardless the liquidation of the Iraqi Embassy in Belarus it’s too early asserting that we would lose some positions in this country. The situation will be brought to light only when the legal government is elected in Iraq.
