Belarus, Ukraine to step up struggle against illegal migration

A visiting Ukrainian parliamentary delegation led by Supreme Rada (parliament) Speaker Vladimir Litvin is due to discuss in the Belarussian capital a deadline for ratification by Belarus of an agreement on the state border between the two countries.
The lack of such an agreement "impedes the full-scale struggle against illegal migration and drug trafficking," Litvin said.
According to him, the Declaration of cooperation between the Ukrainian Supreme Rada (parliament) and the Belarussian National Assembly signed in 1999 "is no longer effective". The Ukrainian parliament speaker is due to receive Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko in the course of the visit.
He is also scheduled to meet the heads of the two Belarussian parliament houses.
