Lithuania and China to strengthen cooperation in information technologies and transportation

President Dalia Grybauskaitė visited the pavilions of Lithuania and the host country China at EXPO 2010.

At an official dinner held in honor of Lithuania, the President spoke about new cooperation opportunities that were opening up for Lithuania and China.

“Lithuania as one of the leaders in Europe in the development of internet technologies sees excellent opportunities for cooperation with China in information technologies. Meanwhile, China's interest in investing in the Lithuanian seaport of Klaipėda serves as a basis for expanding bilateral contacts in the fields of transportation and logistics,” the President underlined.

Dalia Grybauskaitė also emphasized that Lithuania - EU member state - would support economic and cultural cooperation between China and the European Union.

After the Shanghai Expo, President Dalia Grybauskaitė is leaving for Beijing where she will meet with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping to discuss China's investments in Lithuania as well as bilateral cooperation in cargo transportation, renewable technologies and transport infrastructure.
