On 24 August at Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lithuania’s and Germany’s Governments will conclude an agreement on mutual representation by diplomatic and consular missions in visa application procedures.

Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Lithuania Hans-Peter Annen will sign the agreement on behalf of Germany’s Federal Government, and Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis will act on behalf of the Government of Lithuania.

The agreement will allow for foreign citizens to apply for a visa to Lithuania in the countries, where Lithuania will be represented by Germany and where currently there are no possibilities to open Lithuanian representations.

Lithuania has already signed similar agreements with Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Norway and Slovenia. Lithuania is represented in third countries (currently in 18) around the world.

The parties will later agree on the list of the countries in which Lithuania will be represented and on the date when the agreement will enter into force.
