Lithuania seeks to reap the benefits of experience of the Czech Prezidency of the Council of the European Union

Head of Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union Marek Mora is paying a visit to Lithuania from 30 June to 1 July. During the country’s preparation period for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, M.Mora was Deputy Vice Prime Minister for European Affaires of the Czech Republic.

On 1 July in Vilnius, M. Mora is leading a workshop for the preparation for Lithuania’s EU Presidency coordinators network.

The workshop will focus on the experience of preparation for the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

During the event, M.Mora will discuss drafting the programme of the Presidency, budget, strengthening administration capacities, logistics and communication processes, and will acquaint participants of the workshop with the Presidency practice of Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union.

During the visit, M.Mora will also have meetings with Secretary General of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania Jonas Milerius, Chancellor of the Prime Minister Deividas Matulionis and members of the working group for preparation to hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. M.Mora intends to share with them benefits of experience of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the first half-year in 2009.

Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half-year in 2013.
