Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis welcomed the official launch of European Union-Georgia talks on Association Agreement. The talks were started on 15 July.
“Yesterday’s launch of talks lifts the EU-Georgia relations to a qualitatively new level. Georgia firmly and confidently steps towards Europe, and Lithuania consistently supports Georgia’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures,” Minister A.Ažubalis emphasized.
According to the Minister, the conclusion of the Association Agreement will give Georgia a possibility for political association and economic integration into the EU and will contribute to further implementation of reforms in Georgia and to the strengthening of a long-term stability in the country.
“The talks on Association Agreement are a qualitatively new step in advancing the EU-Georgia relations and in bringing Georgia closer to Europe. I am confident that this is the beginning of a process at the end of which Georgia will become a full-fledged EU member state,” the Minister said.
