Lithuania will continue working towards stability in Afghanistan

President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė received Ambassador of the United States of America to Lithuania, Anne Elizabeth Derse. The Ambassador presented U.S. Administration plans and its future strategy towards Afghanistan.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė assured the U.S. Ambassador that Lithuania would continue its engagement in Afghanistan to contribute to peace and stability there and would participate in development and reconstruction projects in this country.

Lithuania is currently leading the Ghor Provincial Reconstruction Group. In the Ghor Province, Lithuania is carrying out provincial development projects, helping to strengthen the influence of Afghani central government, assisting local security structures to build safe and stable environment, and facilitating reconstruction.
