Lithuanian Ambassador presented credentials to the Secretary general of the Counsil of Europe

On 8 October, Lithuanias Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe Gediminas Šerkšnys presented credentials to Terry Davis, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe which has its seat in Strasbourg.

During the conversation with the Secretary General, Lithuania's contribution to the activities of the organization was discussed. Ambassador G.Šerkšnys noted, that Lithuania would continue to actively aspire to entrench of human rights, superiority of democracy and rule of law as the fundamental values of the organization in Europe.

During the meeting the situation in Georgia, to which a special attention was paid by the Council of Europe, and efforts of the organization to neutralize consequences of this conflict were also discussed.

Ambassador G.Šerkšnys is the fourth Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the Council of Europe.
