On 21 October, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas received Rabbi Andrew Baker, a representative of the American Jewish Committee, who is visiting Vilnius.
During the meeting, A.Baker reminded the Minister of the promise that was given by Lithuanian authorities to solve the issue of the restitution of the Jewish communal property. Minister P.Vaitiekūnas indicated that, in his opinion, this issue was to be solved still by the current Government of Lithuania.
The Government is deliberating draft legal acts concerning the restitution of the Jewish communal property. If the Government approves, the bills will be read in the Seimas (Parliament).
