Wednesday, 14 July, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė, is to meet with her Romanian counterpart, Traian Băsescu, who is to pay an official visit to Lithuania.
The Lithuanian and Romanian Presidents are to discuss bilateral relations, the prospects of economic cooperation, common interests in the European Union and NATO, foreign and security policy, and possibilities for promoting regional cooperation.
"Lithuania and Romania are active partners in the European Union and NATO. We are united by good bilateral political relations and common foreign and security policy priorities. I hope that this meeting with President Băsescu and our other meetings during European Council sessions will strengthen bilateral relations between Lithuania and Romania, promote economic cooperation, establishment of contacts between business and culture representatives as well as citizens of the two countries, and will be useful in protecting the interests of Lithuania and Romania on the international arena," President Dalia Grybauskaitė said.
