Lithuania's Foreign Minister expressed his condolences regarding the victims of forest fires in Russia

On 5 August, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis sent letters of condolences to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Transport, co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Lithuanian-Russian Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, Humanitarian and Cultural Cooperation Igor Levitin, expressing his condolences regarding the victims of violent forest fires in Russia.

“Lithuania is deeply shocked by the devastating effect of natural disaster that has hit the Russian Federation these days and has resulted in many human victims, as well as destroyed property”, Minister A.Ažubalis wrote in his letters to ministers S.Lavrov and I.Levitin.

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also noted the country’s readiness to help those affected by the disaster and to cooperate in applying the liquidation measures for the outcome of natural disaster. Consultations on these issues between the Lithuanian and Russian authorities have already started.
