On 2-5 December, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas is paying an official visit to India. During the visit he will be accompanied by the Lithuanian business delegation. Lithuania’s Economy Minister Dainius Kreivys is visiting India at the same time.
In India, Minister V.Ušackas will meet with Minister of External Affairs Somanahalli Mallaiah Krishna, Minister of Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma, Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah, Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of India Shri Lal Krishna Advani, administration of the Institute of Social Sciences and the Lithuanian community in India.
Bilateral relations between Lithuania and India, cultural and scientific cooperation, possibilities for bilateral cooperation in the Ghor Province of Afghanistan, priorities of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Community of Democracies and climate change will be discussed during the meetings.
The agendas of the meetings also include topics of trade and economic relations between Lithuania and India, as well as discussions on the potential of their development. Lithuanian investment projects will be presented and India will be invited to invest in Lithuania.
Minister V.Ušackas and about 30 Lithuanian business representatives will attend the business forum in Mumbai and will meet with Chief Minister of Maharashtra State Ashok Shankarrao Chavan, entrepreneurs and financiers.
On 4 December, the Minister will open the Consulate of Lithuania in Mumbai, led by Lithuania’s Honorary Consul Om Prakash Lohia. The new Lithuania’s Honorary Consul in Mumbai is the Chairman of the company Indo Rama Group.
Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs will return to Vilnius on 5 December.
