Military exercises West_99

Lithuania_s foreign ministry vowed it received none formal message from Russia about its forthcoming military exercises West _99. Opposite to affirmations of Russian foreign vice-minister Aleksandr Avdeyev, the Vienna-based OSCE conflict prevention centre also asserted there was no word from Russia about the exercises. The centre is responsible for conveying such kind of messages to its member states, including Lithuania. So far, foreign agencies have not given the number of servicemen to take part in the aforementioned manoeuvres. Under Vienna instrument, the parties are supposed to notify each other about planned exercises 42 days in advance, provided the servicemen number exceeds 9,000.
