President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus describes Russia's plans to deploy short-range missile system “Iskander” in the Kaliningrad region as announced by the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, as beyond comprehension
“Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev is difficult to understand as his words are mutually conflicting. The President talks about the commitment to act together against our common threats but sends missiles to Kaliningrad to neutralize anti-missile defense system,” says President Adamkus.
The President underlines that the US anti-missile defense system is not targeted against Russia.
“This system is targeted not against Russia but against potential attacks from hostile countries which shelter terrorists. Russia knows this perfectly well. The question is then whom the Russian President acts against? One thing is certain: missiles in Kaliningrad will surely not add to the fight against terrorism,” Lithuania's President said.
