President Extended St. Patrick’s Day Congratulations to the People of Ireland

President Valdas Adamkus extended congratulations to President Mary McAleese of Ireland on the occasion of national holiday – St. Patrick Day.

President Adamkus underlined that St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated not only by the large Irish community all over the world, but also by many Lithuanians who had found a warm and hospitable home in Ireland. He thanked personally the President of Ireland and the Irish people for accepting sincerely members of the Lithuanian community.
 
“I am confident our mutual liking and understanding, our shared interests and aspirations that connect our peoples will promote further Lithuanian-Irish partnership. I have no doubt our business, art and academic communities will continue their successful cooperation by developing new projects and ideas, thus bringing Lithuania and Ireland still closer together and adding to their well-being,” Mr. Adamkus wrote in his message of congratulations.
