President congratulated Chancellor Angela Merkel and her Christian Democratic Union of Germany on victory in German federal election

President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė sent congratulations to Chancellor Angela Merkel of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Christian Democratic Union of Germany on the victory in German federal election.

In the congratulatory letter, the President expresses belief that with the approaching twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall the well-deserved trust placed in the German Chancellor by German voters will precondition a stronger Germany and Europe as well as their economic recovery.

"I hope that I will soon have the opportunity to meet with you to discuss the issues of most concern to Europe and our countries. I sincerely wish you the best of success in your important and challenging work," the President writes in the letter.
