As noted by Lithuania's President, Lithuania and Turkey promote the same common Euro-Atlantic values, contributing to the spread of the ideals of democracy and freedom throughout the world. “We are working together towards a more secure and stable world where there is no place for terrorism, fear and hatred. Lithuania greatly appreciates the efforts made by Turkey in seeking new paths of cooperation in the South Caucasus and the entire region as well as your role in strengthening Europe’s energy security. Lithuania supports Turkey’s perspective for EU membership which would make the European Union stronger and contribute to building security and well-being in the region,” writes President Adamkus in the letter of congratulations.
The President expressed hope that in the coming years Lithuania and Turkey would continue their close cooperation in attaining these goals and enhancing bilateral contacts in economy, energy security, transport, and culture.
