President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus congratulated His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand and all Thai people on their national holiday, the National Day.

According to the President, today Lithuania and Thailand are linked by the bonds of friendship and shared responsibility for building a more secure and stable world. "It is only through joint efforts that we can overcome the challenges of the 21st century that we face together: intolerance and terrorism, non-sustainable development and climate change, and others," the President writes in the letter of congratulations.

"Very soon, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Thailand will present her credentials to Your Majesty. I am confident that her appointment will add more dynamism to our bilateral relations. I hope that our joint endeavors will embrace the newly emerging opportunities to develop business, scientific and cultural contacts and bring our two friendly nations even closer together," the President writes.
