President Grybauskaitė presented Lithuania's foreign policy priorities, underlining the importance of cooperation between the Baltic and Nordic countries and the necessity of strengthening their actions at EU level. The President pointed out that the Neighbourhood Policy, its development and implementation would continue to be among the main issues on Lithuania's foreign policy agenda. She further said that there would be no changes in Lithuania's Euro-Atlantic commitments and that Lithuania would keep on participating in peace and security missions in Afghanistan.

Speaking about Lithuania's energy policy priorities, President Grybauskaitė invited EU member states to participate in the new nuclear power plant construction project through investment or management.

Taking part in the meeting with the President were 24 EU ambassadors and embassy representatives who expressed interest in possible amendments to the Law on the Protection of Minors Against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information.

Dalia Grybauskaitė said that she would set up a working group by presidential decree for drafting specific proposals on amending this law in the near future.

Lithuania's economic situation and actions to be taken by the Government to overcome the crisis were also discussed during the meeting with EU diplomatic corps.

President Grybauskaitė pointed out that Lithuania still had the capacity to deal with economic problems by own efforts without seeking loans from the International Monetary Fund.

The EU ambassadors residing in Lithuania spoke highly of the first foreign visit made by President Grybauskaitė to Sweden on July 16.

President Grybauskaitė invited all EU diplomats to offer their proposals and cooperate in the fields of policy-making, the economy and culture.
