President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus presented letters of credence to Mr. Mindaugas Butkus as the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Germany.
During the credentials ceremony, President Adamkus underlined Germany had always been one of the most influential European states. Therefore, as the President said, cooperation with Germany within NATO and the European Union where German representation is very influential is very important.
“Germany is very important for us; therefore, we entrust you with a heavy task of developing further the relations between the two states,” the President said.
Mindaugas Butkus takes up his duties in Germany on 15 April as the fifth Lithuanian Ambassador to Germany.
