President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus presented letters of credence to Mr. Gediminas Šerkšnys as Lithuania’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Council of Europe.

The President congratulated the new Ambassador and expressed confidence that with his international diplomatic experience he would properly carry out the mission entrusted to him. President Adamkus wished the Ambassador every success, especially in seeking to make sure that generally recognised human rights and fundamental principles of their protection are properly implemented and defended throughout Europe.
