President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelkader Khemri.
President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelkader Khemri.
The Ambassador and the President discussed bilateral relations between the two states and possibilities for closer cooperation in energy, trade and investment. The President wished the diplomat every success in this important position and expressed confidence that Ambassador Khemri's active efforts would promote further development of relations between Lithuania and Algeria.
The 56-year-old Ambassador has an education in political science and communication acquired in Paris Dauphine University. His political and diplomatic career included membership in Algeria's parliament and government and leadership of the Algerian group in Maghreb advisory body.
Diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Algeria were established on 15 April 1994. Ambassador Khemri is the fourth Algerian Ambassador to Lithuania. The Ambassador resides in Warsaw.
