President signs a decree concerning the new Government

Acting pursuant to Art. 84(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus has signed a decree to approve the following composition of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania as proposed by Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius: Algis Čaplikas as the Minister of Health, Rimantas Jonas Dagys as the Minister of Social Security and Labour, Rasa Juknevičienė as the Minister of National Defence, Gediminas Kazlauskas the Minister of Environment, Dainius Kreivys as the Minister of Economy, Eligijus Masiulis as the Minister of Transport and Communications, Raimundas Palaitis as the Minister of the Interior, Kazimieras Starkevičius as the Minister of Agriculture, Gintaras Steponavičius as the Minister of Education and Science, Algirdas Gediminas Šemeta as the Minister of Finance, Remigijus Šimašius as the Minister of Justice, Vygaudas Ušackas as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Remigijus Vilkaitis as the Minister of Culture.

The decree comes into force as of the date of signature.
