President to attend the events dedicated to February 16

This coming Monday, the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus will take part in public events dedicated to the Day of the Restoration of the Lithuanian State.

To celebrate the Day of the Restoration of the Lithuanian State, the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczynski, is also arriving in Vilnius.

Monday morning, President Adamkus will pay tribute to the signatories of the Act of Independence buried in Rasų Cemetery, by placing flowers on their graves.

In the morning of February 16, President Adamkus will decorate Lithuanian and foreign nationals with state awards in recognition of their merits to Lithuania.

At noon, the President of Lithuania, together with the President of Poland, will attend the flag raising ceremony of the three Baltic nations in Daukantas Square in Vilnius.

After the ceremony, the two presidents will attend the celebration of the Holy Mass in Vilnius Cathedral.

After working lunch, Lithuanian and Polish leaders will observe the military parade of the Lithuanian Armed Forces in the Cathedral Square.

Later in the day, Valdas Adamkus will participate in the National Awards ceremony in the White Hall of the Presidential Palace.

In the evening, the two presidents will take part in the festive celebration of February 16 at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius.
