President to take part in the commemoration of Ukraine's Great Famine in Kiev

Today, November 21, the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus goes to Kiev to take part in the events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Famine in Ukraine, Holodomor.

On the first day of the visit, President Adamkus will join the Ukrainian leader Viktor Yushchenko in the official opening of an exhibition of works by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. 

On Saturday, Lithuania's President will attend the events dedicated to the commemoration of the Great Famine, together with the leaders of Latvia, Poland, Georgia, Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The heads of states will deliver speeches in the international forum 'Ukraine Remembers – the World Recognizes' dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Holodomor, in the Taras Shevchenko National Opera House of Ukraine. Later on, the participants will honor the memory of victims of the Famine of 1932-1933, and plant a tree.

The President comes back to Vilnius Saturday evening.
