Latvian Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis regrets that the Estonian and Lithuanian Presidents refused to participate in the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany in Moscow.
Mr. Kalvitis announced this at a press conference in Imatra (Finland) following the meeting with his Finnish counterpart Matti Vanhanen on Wednesday.
According to Mr. Kalvitis, Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga will go to Moscow on Victory Day to present Latvia's position on the historic events.
"After World War II Latvia lost independence. Unfortunately, our neighbors will not go to Moscow to present our viewpoint together," the premier added.
On his part, Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen said that "Finland did not intend to revise relations with Russia." "Both sides should let historians do it," he noted.
