President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended on behalf of herself and the people of Lithuania congratulations to King Juan Carlos I of Spain on National Day.

"Your national holiday is celebrated on the day which also marks a major historical event - the Discovery of America," Dalia Grybauskaitė wrote in her message of congratulations.

President Grybauskaitė noted that even in the world of today a lot could be yet discovered that would change global relations or, at least, relations between individual countries. Lithuania and Spain, Dalia Grybauskaitė underlined, have been working together for some time now towards building a common future of the continent.

"Our two countries are getting to know each other better all the time. Your Majesty's visit to Lithuania this past May has greatly contributed to this process. I wish, therefore, Spain and Lithuania to discover more and more things that they share and find new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. As President of Lithuania, I will do my utmost to make it happen," Dalia Grybauskaitė wrote in her letter to the King of Spain.
