Lietuvos Prezidentė Dalia Grybauskaitė atvyksta į Europos Sąjungos Vadovų tarybos posėdį Briuselyje
President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė goes on an official visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

While in Luxembourg, the President will meet with Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, also the President of the Luxembourg Parliament, Laurent Mosar, Luxembourg‘s Prime Minister Jean Claude Juncker, and other high officials.

“Luxembourg, being one of the founders and oldest member states of the European Communities, makes a perfect example of European integration, unity and solidarity. Lithuania could greatly benefit from Luxembourg's European experience, also its experience in promoting business-friendly environment and developing its financial sector, fostering investment in renewable energies and shaping Europe's monetary policy,” President Dalia Grybauskaitė says.

Special focus during the visit will be on investment projects in the area of alternative sources of energy. In line with EU directives, Luxembourg, like other EU Member States, has undertaken a commitment to increase the share of renewable energy to 10 per cent of its total energy consumption. Taking account of the lack of required geographic capacities in Luxembourg, the European Union has allowed Luxembourg to invest in the development of alternative energies in other EU Member States instead.

Wednesday evening, President Dalia Grybauskaitė will leave Luxembourg for Brussels to attend the European Council Summit on Thursday. The EU heads of states are convening to discuss the EU Strategy 2020, economic coordination and financial control measures and other issues of European importance.
