Iraq Has Given Russia Priority In Oil&Gas Extraction

Iraq confirms, that "Russia is the prior country in cooperation in such strategic branches, as oil and gas extraction, construction of thermal power stations. The ambassador of Iraq in Russian Federation Abbas Halaf has informed about it here today.
Thus the diplomat has confirmed, contract on petroleum deposit " Western Kurna" with Russian company "LUKOIL" was terminated. The further cooperation with the Russian party on this deposit will be continued.
Abbas Halaf has told, that he can’t yet name the concrete company with which the new contract is possible. " Iraq stakes on Russia as our countries are connected by long historical relations", - the ambassador has noted.
