Lithuania Has a Favourable Starting Position in the Enlarged EU -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lithuania has a favourable starting position in the enlarged EU, as it is known for highly qualified labour force, fast growing IT sector, has trade experience in different markets and exports energy products, says Philip Lowe, Director General of the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission. Mr.Lowe, like many other foreign experts thinks that though competition in the enlarged EU will be tougher and Lithuanian companies will have to face new challenges, they will cope. “Lithuanian market is rather small and has a specific linguistic culture. That means hat EU companies who want to operete in the Lithuanian market will need support from the local people. On the other hand, Lithuania is an export-oriented country and with the EU enlargement it will have better possibilities in the EU markets“, said Mr.Lowe.
