President Valdas Adamkus signed decrees to recall Lithuanian ambassadors in two international institutions. Lithuanian envoy to the Council of Europe Aurimas Taurantas is recalled from July 12. From the same date Algirdas Jonas Zemaitis, Lithuanian ambassador to UN FAO, is also recalled. They both worked in the above mentioned international organisations more than four years. The law on diplomatic service reads that ambassadors are replaced after three-year service. President Adamkus had not appointed new persons to replace the recalled ones. Media sources mention present Foreign Vice-Minister Rokas Bernotas to represent Lithuania in the Council of Europe.
