The visiting Lord Mayor of London Clive Martin, during his meeting with Riga City Council Mayor Andris Argalis, discussed educational, naturalisation and transport issues.

Martin was informed on the achievements of the Latvian youth in the information technology sector and was particularly interested in the system of IT instruction in schools.
Martin asked about the situation with non-citizens in Latvia and Riga, and pointed to multi-national population in London with about 300 languages spoken. The visiting Lord Mayor was interested in traffic problems in Riga and the plans on construction of a new bridge across the Daugava River.
