The new state secretary of the ministry starts his tenure

On February 2, Kęstutis Jankauskas started his tenure as the state secretary of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after he was selected by the Ministry for this office.

Until his appointment, since 2005 K.Jankauskas had been Ambassador-at-Large at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union.

K.Jankauskas was born on 18 August 1969 in Vilnius. In 1992 he graduated from the Faculty of History, Vilnius University. He has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1991.

From 1991 to 1992, K.Jankauskas worked at the Nordic Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. From 1992 to 1996 he held a position at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the Kingdom of Sweden. From 1996 he continued working at the Nordic Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. From 1996 to 1997 he was Head of the Multilateral Relations Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

And from 1997 to 1999, he was Head of the Security Policy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. From 1999 to 2003, he was Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the United States of America. In 2003, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. From 2003 to 2005 he worked as the Director of the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, and from 2005 to 2009 he was Ambassador-at-Large at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union.

K.Jankauskas speaks English, German, Russian, Polish, Swedish and French.
