A senior Polish public television journalist has resigned in protest at political interference in the running of Poland_s most powerful news programs, a station spokesman said on Monday.Jacek Maziarski, the head of programming at TAI, state media_s news gathering arm, accused the leftist Peasant party (PSL) of pressuring his agency to give disproportionate air time to its political activities, Polish media said. "Director Maziarski said that he could no longer maintain the political neutrality of the agency so he resigned," TAI spokesman Pawel Sosnowski told Reuters. Maziarski was not available for comment on Monday. The political independence of public television has often been questioned in Poland. Successive governments have accused each other of filling senior management positions at the widely-watched channels with their representatives.
