The Vienna-based OSCE Permanent Council discussed on Thursday the situation in Transnistria, according to a communication of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.
In particular, the OSCE Permanent Council reviewed the situation of the Latin-spelling schools on the left bank of the Dniester river, the cameraman of the public television channel Moldova-1, Dinu Mija, and the chief-engineer of the railway station in Tighina (Bender), Vasile Magaleas, whom a court in Tighina sentenced to 15 days of detention early this week.
The Moldovan delegation said that "the provocative actions of the unrecognised Transnistrian republic also hit the activity of railroads, indicating in this context the occupation of the railway station in Tighina".
The OSCE community was invited to take urgent measures aimed to release Mija and Magaleas.
In turn, the participating states, particularly Bulgaria, which holds the OSCE chairmanship, the Netherlands on behalf of the European Union, and the United States "vehemently condemned the actions of the Tiraspol impostors aimed to destabilize the situation, demanding the immediate opening of schools in Tiraspol and Ribnita, and restoration of conditions for activity of other schools in region." The Transnistrian administration "was urged to restore the normal activity of railroads in the eastern regions, as well as to take measures for stabilization of situation in the security zone."
