OSCE Chairman Appoints Special Envoy To Central Asia

Chairman of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Romanian Foreign Minister Mircea Geoana has appointed a special envoy to Central Asia. The position went to former Secretary-General of the OSCE, career diplomat Wilhelm Hoeynck, a source in the OSCE secretariat told RIA Novosti.
The task facing the special envoy is to coordinate OSCE projects with Central Asian states and implement them. Hoeynck's tour of the Central Asian region has been scheduled for June 17 through 28.
Wilhelm Hoeynck, a former employee of the German foreign ministry, spent a number of years working in Vietnam and is known as a leading expert in Central Asia and as the author of an OSCE plan to activate cooperation with the aforementioned region.
