Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer left on Monday for Poland as the guest of Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski.
Sezer told reporters prior to his departure that solidarity and cooperation with Poland should be further increased in Turkey's European Union (EU) membership process. He added that Turkey hoped Poland, as an EU member, to provide necessary support for Turkey's receiving a negotiation date in December 2004. Sezer said that they would express this expectation of Turkey during meetings in Poland.
Sezer said that relations between Poland and Turkey would be revised and they would discuss the opportunities to deepen cooperation between two countries. He added that they would also exchange views on regional and international issues which concern both countries closely.
Sezer said that they would sign an action plan for further development of bilateral relations.
Stressing that they would make the opening of Business Council meeting which would convene Turkish and Polish businessmen, Sezer said that he hoped that economic and commercial relations could be further developed by the contribution of businessmen.
