The United States is concluding the program of economic assistance to Poland, closing the Warsaw-based Agency for International Development (AID) office next week, the US Department of State has reported.

According to the office spokesman, Richard Boucher, AID Director Brady Anderson will arrive in Poland on 11th July to officially close the office. The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek.
Washington has been reducing the amount of assistance for a few years as the economic situation of Poland and its neighbors improved. In 1998 Poland received 35.5m dollars and in 1999 only 19.1m dollars. Since 1990, Poland has received a total of 926.7m dollars worth of assistance
