Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuri Lutsenko refused to come to Belarus for celebrations on the occasion of the Militia Day. Moreover, the head of the Interior Affairs Ministry had not come for signing an agreement on cooperation between the Interior Affairs Ministries of Belarus and Ukraine.
The minister sent deputy minister instead of himself. However the agreement on cooperation had not been signed, as such documents are signed only at a level of ministers. As the Charter’97 press center was informed by the reviewer of the Ukrainian magazine “Zerkalo nedeli” Yuri Voloshin, the decision not to come to Belarus had been made several days before. It is not connected with death of ex-minister of Interior Affairs of Yuri Kravchenko. In all probability the new Interior Minister of Ukraine did not want to talk to his Belarusian foil suspected of involvement to abductions of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition and a journalist.
