Valdas Adamkus Congratulates the President of Pakistan on Inauguration

President Valdas Adamkus extended congratulations on behalf of the people of Lithuania and himself to President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan on the occasion of his inauguration and wished him every success in discharging the important duties of the presidential office.

“Today Pakistan faces many challenges. To ensure security and stability is among its most complicated confrontations. I firmly believe that your country will not stand alone in this fight and that the international community will continue making an all-out effort to establish peace and security in the entire Asian region,” Mr. Adamkus wrote in his letter of congratulations.

Valdas Adamkus noted that Lithuania was contributing in an active way to the rebuilding of neighboring Afghanistan where it was leading a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Ghor Province. “We are determined to continue this mission,” Mr. Adamkus wrote.
 
He underlined his confidence that the two countries would further their friendly relations, cooperating even more dynamically in the fields of business, culture and science.

Valdas Adamkus expressed his firm belief that the President of Pakistan would justify the trust and confidence of his people, bringing them together through personal example to build a secure, prosperous, democratic, and open state
