President Valdas Adamkus congratulated President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner of Argentina on the occasion of national holiday - Revolution Day - and extended best wishes for the well-being and prosperity of the Argentine people.

"It is with great pleasure that I recall my visit to Argentina in the summer of last year, the exquisite beauty of your country and the warm hospitality of its people. For many years now, Lithuania and Argentina have been linked by a close historical bond based on common values, shared interests and the large and long-established Lithuanian community in Argentina," Mr. Adamkus wrote in his message of congratulations.

President Adamkus expressed his firm belief that even today, in times of slowdown, we can rely on the friendship between Lithuania and Argentina and their societies and together search for new ways and novel solutions to economic growth. Today, as never before, it is important to strengthen cultural, economic, academic, and research contacts between the two countries, implement the EU-Latin American strategic partnership and make the best of the opportunities that it offers, Mr. Adamkus wrote.
