Published: 2 July 2014 y., Wednesday

On July 3, neighbouring Belarus will celebrate Independence Day. Stately events are planned all over the country, to be crowned by a military parade in Minsk to honour those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the country. This year Belarus will also commemorate the 70-year anniversary of liberation from fascist occupation.

However, Belarusians will not only be celebrating Independence Day at official events. On this occasion, most cities organise various concerts, sports tournaments, fairs and competitions. In the evening, the skyline of Minsk will light up with celebratory fireworks.

Meanwhile, the Belarusian embassy in Vilnius will also be marking this occasion with a solemn celebration attended by various politicians, public figures, business representatives and other honoured guests.
