Norway, followed by Sweden, Australia, Canada and the Netherlands lead this ranking. The report also provides other indicators that countries use to measure development. Slovenia, which is 27th in the ranking, has the best living standards among the new EU member states.
The living standards and development index is based on the life expectancy, education and the standard of living of the population.
