ATMeye.iQ Will Ensure ATM Safety in Turkey

Published: 22 January 2020 y., Wednesday

BS/2 in cooperation with Analistim Bilisim expands its area of operation and enters the Turkish market with ATMeye.iQ – the ATM software solution, which helps protect banking equipment, resolve disputes and prevent fraud.

Banking Industry of Turkey

The banking sector of Turkey is represented by more than 50 financial institutions. The high cash demand in the country stimulates the development of self-service networks. This is clearly shown by the ATM per capita statistic: from 450 per million inhabitants in 2012 to 670 in 2019. Today, the self-service fleet consists of a wide range of models from various manufacturers and reaches nearly 60,000 units. The number of ATM users grows not only among residents but also among tourists. Recent statistics show that since 2013, the value of cash withdrawals via ATMs using foreign cards in Turkey almost doubled.

Most ATMs are located outside the banks, that makes them more vulnerable to physical attacks and implies additional security risks. Large banks need a comprehensive solution to provide a high level of protection and monitoring of the huge ATM network in Turkey.

The Relevance of Video Surveillance for Turkish Banks

During the joint visit with Analistim Bilisim to banks, the BS/2 team demonstrated the usefulness of the ATMeye.iQ system in protecting banking equipment. Bank executives showed particular interest in providing a high level of security for the banking self-service channel as well as in accelerating the process of resolving disputes with customers. The discussion was focused on the advantages of ATMeye.iQ vs the CCTV systems that are currently deployed.

“Today, Turkish banks use a DVR solution to protect ATMs. Records are stored external hard drives. In most cases, the video remains at the ATM until the responsible staff arrives. Finding relevant recordings for specific events can take days because the transaction information and video footage at the ATMs are not synchronized. Of course, it leads to customer dissatisfaction,” says Vilius Gofmanas, BS/2 Sales Manager.

Advanced Video Surveillance Features

ATMeye.iQ system logs all operations performed by ATM users. All actions and photos are linked to the client's bank card number. Search tools allow finding the necessary data by event date or card number. It simplifies access to video and photo materials during disputes with customers. For example, in case of a complaint that the ATM did not give the money, the bank employee can check what really happened within a few minutes. In this way, ATMeye.iQ helps reduce the time to resolve such situations.

“Our banks and the Banking Association are looking for an effective solution to protect ATMs. The range of self-service devices on the market is very large. BS/2 offers a customizable solution, which can be deployed on the banking equipment of different manufacturers. This makes it suitable for monitoring of the entire network of equipment owned by the bank,” says Serkan Koçali, General Manager at Analistim Bilisim.

The ATMeye.iQ system helps monitor the operation of the ATM network in real-time, it also instantly informs the responsible personnel and security services about emerging issues and threats.
