Asian Forum on Banking Technologies 2013 conference, which is already becoming a traditional event aimed at introducing the most advanced solutions to the banking and retail trade sectors, took place on September 13-15 in Kyrgyzstan. Same as last year, the event was hosted by “Penkių kontinentų bankinės technologijos” (BS/2) company, which is part of “Penki kontinentai” Group.

The forum brought together representatives and directors from the largest banks of Central Asia this year. Not only BS/2 experts but also representatives from UAB “ASHBURN International”, German concern “Wincor Nixdorf”, and “First Data” international data processing company shared their experience at the conference. It is worthwhile mentioning that the geography of the participants has expanded – the representatives of the Tajik leading banks have joined the conference, while the number of guests has nearly doubled.

“A new approach to technologies allowed us and our clients seeing the fast-growing banking sector in Central Asia at a different angle and discussing possible new ways to optimize this process. Not only the content but also the forms of presentation have left a good impression. The use of mobile devices to demonstrate software functionalities allowed making faster and better comprehensible presentations of information”, said Tomas Augucevičius, BS/2 Deputy Director.

At the conference, BS/2 representatives shared their software deployment experience in Kyrgyz, Kazakh and Tajik banks and presented their vision of a bank branch in the future. Company experts introduced “Mobile.iQ”, a mobile application platform. The presentation of “Cash Logistics.iQ cash flow control, management and optimization module also captured close attention and raised discussions.

It was the first time that “ASHBURN International”, a subsidiary of “Penki kontinentai”, which provides e-commerce services as well as creates and deploys solutions for frequent customer programs, took part in this conference. The company representatives have introduced “TransLink.iQ – a solution for processing of financial transactions and ATM network management, and “PayLo” – a solution for management of frequent customer and payment programs.

“We are glad that we could take part in this forum and introduce our solutions to numerous representatives from Central Asian banking sector for the first time. We’re also pleased that our presentation raised so many discussions and we could make a lot of new business contacts that may turn to business partnerhips in the future. We are grateful to BS/2 for the invitation and the professional hosting of the forum”, says Žoržas Šarafanovičius, UAB “ASHBURN International” Executive Director.

A special guest at the conference Ana Pankraz, a representative from “Wincor Nixdorf”, talked about the advantages of the CINEO family banking safes and presented several projects involving this equipment. BS/2 established a partnership with “Wincor Nixdorf” in 1995.

Vygintas Rakauskas, Director of Process Management at UAB “First Data”, also made a presentation at the conference.

“The conference, which took place in a picturesque location in Kyrgyzstan, left a very good impression not only because of the spectacular Issyk Kul and the beauty of the mountains but also because of the great content and organization of the event. One of the exceptional features of this conference was the fact that the presentations intended for customers from Asian countries introduced solutions and software products rather than equipment.   The presenters were stressing the benefits that BS/2 solutions may bring to the banks of the region. As someone who participated in this BS/2 event for this first time, I found it useful to share experience with the professionals from other countries and get to know the team of BS/2 which is an old partner of “First Data”, said Vygintas Rakauskas.

When the official part was over, forum participants were invited into an entertaining evening part. The guests could take a boat trip in the Issyk Kul Lake, which is called the diamond of Kyrgyzstan, admire a wonderful panorama from the bank of the lake, and taste traditional regional dishes for dinner. We hope that similar events will attract more banking sector representatives from different countries and help make new business contacts as well as maintain the present connections.
