On the first days of February, “Cisco Live 2012” conference held in London and organized by a global company “Cisco Systems” (CISCO) drew to a close. The event held in the capital of Great Britain focused on “cloud” computing which is becoming increasingly popular all over the world as well as on the transition from wired to wireless. Furthermore, the event was full of interesting discussions, meetings, lectures, seminars which touched upon many relevant IT topics.

In the event, Lithuania was represented by a long-term partner of CISCO – a group of companies “Penki kontinentai”, which has been successfully using the most innovative products of this international company for many years now. According to its representative Tomas Okmanas, by updating and modernizing its own optic fiber network “Skynet”, Lithuanian company is continually interested in promising and innovative technologies and is happy to share its vast experience.

“We have extremely large experience of using CISCO products – from the establishment of the network to its modernization. It was this innovative equipment which allowed us to quite recently offer our customers the Internet speed of 1 Gb/s which is unique in Lithuania. Therefore, we had things to share with the “Cisco Live” attendees and our experience was interesting to representatives of various companies – those which started to use CISCO equipment as well as those which have already tried the products of this global leader”, told the Manager of Network Operations Center T. Okmanas. 

The meetings of “Penki kontinentai” experts with representatives of the US Internet service company “Cogent Communications” which is rapidly making its way in Lithuania were also successful.

“During the “Cisco Live”, we met with the representatives of “Cogent Communications”, the company of the network leader “Tier 1”, and took interest in a possibility to use cables of this company to transfer international data flows. We visited the data center of this international company, met with its managers working in Great Britain, and we expect tangible results in the future, which will certainly affect all customers of our network “Skynet”. The representatives of this global company are already planning their visit to Lithuania, during which the models of cooperation acceptable to both parties would be discussed”, commented T. Okmanas.
