Specialists from the Lithuanian IT company “Penki kontinentai” along with business representatives from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia visited Silicon Valley located in the United States of America (USA) and considered to be the cradle of information technology of the USA. Such companies as Advanced Micro Devices, Apple Inc., Cisco Systems, eBay, Google, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Intel, GetJar, Facebook and many others are based here.

During their visit to Silicon Valley, specialists from “Penki kontinentai” met with managers of Cisco Systems, VMware and EMC, discussed trends in the latest technology market, shared ideas about its perspectives and were introduced to the latest products.

“One of the most interesting meetings was with representatives of Cisco Systems who link the future only to the Internet and products based on its capabilities, and the latter can easily be adapted to any sector. For example, remote medical centers will allow experienced professionals to provide qualified assistance even in the most remote locations, and the doctor will be able to see the patient and monitor his pulse, temperature, blood pressure, listen to his breathing using an electronic stethoscope as well as obtain the results of examinations in real time. According to experts, the Internet will be an essential tool that will ensure mobility, personalization of any service as well as facilitate performance of many tasks”, says the Head of Network Operations Department of “Penki kontinentai” Tomas Okmanas.

Based on predictions of experts from global companies, remote Internet-based services will replace today’s IT maintenance units as well.

“For companies, it will be more profitable to choose remote IT system maintenance and support rather than to keep a huge separate unit and its employees, provide funds for their training and regularly update the technical base. Most advanced companies already choose IT outsourcing services of specialized companies or use cloud technology solutions that enable accessing the workplace and all the necessary information from any location in the world and on any device”, says T. Okmanas.

Representatives of EMC, the world’s leading developer of solutions for information technology infrastructure, focused all of the attention on the rapidly growing amount of data and the challenges involved – information storage, data backup, archiving. The company sets much hope on the RSA security solutions, for the development of which significant investment and resources are allocated.

Security, as a highly relevant topic worth further development, was also mentioned by representatives of Cisco Systems who clearly see the existing problems and improve their products as well as actively work in this field with their partners, such as Lancope.

Representatives of VMware shared their insights on trends of cloud computing and introduced the latest news. One of them is cloud technology solutions offered by the manufacturer itself. It is a step that facilitates integration of the current or future private “clouds” developed on the basis of VMware with public “clouds”, i.e. a way to the so-called hybrid “cloud”.

“Each developer with its own solutions is like an individual musical instrument. It is pleasant to listen to it separately. However, coordinated orchestra sounds much more impressive. Each customer has its own priorities and challenges that are constantly changing. Therefore, we seek to be in the midst of news and current affairs so that the proposed solutions would allow the customers to enjoy the orchestra for the next 3-5 years”, says the Head of UAB IPRO LT Arūnas Stankevičius. Moreover, IPRO LT has recently been recognized the most successful partner of VMware with the highest turnover in the Baltic countries.

Penki kontinentai” is a long-time partner of Cisco Systems with a status of Premier Partner. Constant participation in various international events and meetings with experts from all over the world, more than 20 years of experience in the IT sector allow the company to offer its customers high-quality and attractive IT solutions. A lot of the company’s services are based on the most advanced products of this global company.
