Joint BS/2 and EU Project will Ensure Smoother Self-service Device Network Management

BS/2 Banking Technology Company together with UAB Arevita has finished implementing the project “Integrated Intelligent Management System for Service Infrastructures” (AIVIS/ASOMIS2) according to “Intelektas LT” – the mean of Economic Growth Action Programme priority “Scientific Research and Technological Development for Economic Competitiveness and Growth”. At the end of October of this year, the two-year project has been successfully completed and all the objectives were accomplished.

The total value of the project is more than two million litas (LTL 2,215,715). Funding from the EU’s European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) was equal to 1.25 million litas, while private investments of the project promoters for scientific research and development amounted to nearly one million litas.

Objective of the project was to create the intellectual system, adapted to management of the ATM infrastructure maintenance, through applied scientific research and technologic development. The developed system will ensure accessibility of the banks and their effective management, and provide for failures – it should decrease the ATM network costs by 6-10 percent. However, development of such a product requires specific knowledge, so the system prototyping required extensive applied scientific research.

During implementation of the project, BS/2 developed three research areas: identification of atypical behaviour, automation of service processes, and video security. The project participants invoked knowledge and experience of the researchers of Kaunas University of Technology and investigated the methods for ATM failure forecasting, ATM network monitoring, detection of suspicious activities, and etc. They analyzed various forecasting and optimization techniques, and accumulated some knowledge that would help create the innovative products designed for ATM security and effective management. Project partner Arevita has designed a real-time prototype of environmental monitoring and video signal processing electronic board, which will contribute to ensuring the efficient self-service equipment security.

Knowledge acquired during implementation of the project and the results achieved will be realized in developing unique commercial products and introducing them into the already existing systems. This will help the ATM infrastructure maintenance and servicing companies to carry out their activities more efficiently and ensure accessibility, performance and security of the service infrastructure.
